Another "Pregnant? or just Stress-induced missed period?" question

The start of my most recent period was on Feb 26 - projected ovulation date being March 14, projected next period March 28 (via MyMonthlyCycles, where I have been keeping track of my period for 1 year). Average cycle - 30 days.

We had protected intercourse on March 3 and 24. The condom didn't break; slipped down maybe an inch but we pushed it right back up.

Now my period is 3 or 4 days late (depending if you count the 28th), with no usual signs of cramping etc that I normally get. Took two HPT's and both came out negative. Discharge looks normal, no tenderness of breasts or anything. I have had a little bit of an upset stomach but I think I may just be getting sick - I am under quite a bit of stress.

I know it's unlikely that I am pregnant, but I am paranoid since I can't afford to have a child right now. I have heard that stress really can throw off a regular period (I have been regular for 8 years now), but I have a hard time believing it since I am so paranoid... help? I don't know what's wrong with me!

Have a GYNO appt coming up in a month, but I'm the type of person who likes to know without going to the doc! It sure would be nice if my period would come!

why there's still no one answering to my question..?

please, today also i still didn't get my period..
plus, i am very dry down there..i heard that progesterone makes your cervix dry, if there's a implantation..it will form a mucus plug around the cervix opening to protect the pregnancy..

i've been dry for 16 days since my ovulation time..

help me someone..

i thought chances of getting pregnant during your post ovulatory days is very slim..i must be unlucky if i got pregnant, right?

i really hope it's just a stressed induced missed/late period..

Hi there...im not in charge of this site. No one answered my question either which I posted a few days ago. I have a 14 month old son and bad cramping was my first indication I was pregnant. I am also 22 years old. Have you done a pregnancy test yet? I don't think you could be pregnant but its always good to have a test done just to make sure. I always miss my periods due to stress. Stress does a big impact on your monthly cycle and I think that your stress is causing the delay in your period. I just got my period yesterday...they were over 1 week late. Please have a test done to keep your mind at ease...im pretty sure that you are not pregnant but I am not a Doctor. Good luck :D

Could you help me please..

i am 22, i had my first intercourse on 24th day after my period (a week before my next period's due). I was very sure it was post-ovulatory day.. because my peak of mucus discharge was on day 17th after period. I was dry for 6-7 days after that until we did it..we used withdrawal method. he was inside me for less than 2 minutes. He was sure he wasn't ejaculate inside me. I have a regular period cycle of 31days. today is suppose to be my due date but i'm still not getting my period. I also didn't have my usual premenstrual symptoms such as light cramping n breast tenderness. For the past one week i have been stressed out thinking about will i be pregnant. And could my missed period caused by the stress or am i really am pregnant? Please, i am really scared. I need to know..

Hi there, great to find this site very reassuring and nice to see people so supportive.
Basically here's my story for you guys to battle on through.
I cannot remember the last time I had my period exactly date wise but I remember it always being at the very end of the month - so therefore meaning that my last one was probably around the 25th of April. Its now the 31st of May and I am thinking I am at least a week late.
I have been sexually active since around the end of April, but this was all foreplay - I am very concerned, although I do not remember it happening or coming into contact with lower regions, that my partner may have got some of his ejaculate on me, or on his hands when he proceeded to touch me - though after he'd masturbated we did wait at least 30 minutes sitting chatting until going again and wiped ourselves off using baby wipes and towels.
We started having sex on the 21st of May twice and a few days after that- a few days before I thought I was due on and it was all protected with condoms, and he pulled out to ensure he didn't come in me. We were very careful. He has however, come on me before and I am worried this may carry a risk of pregnancy although it was high up on my body. I am very careful now due to paranoia to make sure I wash my hands when able. I am BEYOND terrified about this, along with exams coming up for end of school I just feel like breaking down. I am insanely paranoid and can't take it off my mind. I am worried that i've got symptoms when it may all just be in my head. I have never wanted a period so badly in my life!!!
I took a Home pregnancy test this Saturday just gone, so that would have been the 29th of May and it came back negative, I intend to take one tomorrow to make sure... but i'm terrified due to all these 'false negative' claims - if I am at least a week late can I really trust the pregnancy test result? Was the one on May 29th too early to tell?
I apologise if my story seems confusing, anything you need explaining feel free to ask! I am just in a bit of a kerfuffle about this whole thing. Is it really feasable that stress because of this could have delayed my period? I'm normally so regular. I didn't feel particularly stressed until I started overthinking the chance of being pregnant, now I am horrified and very emotional about the concept. Typical the first time I become sexually active I would go and miss a period!
Thanks very much guys

Hi,
I am sorry you are so worried and stressed!
From what I gathered from your story, it sounds like you had protected sex (with condoms), and any time your boyfriend ejaculated on you, it was not near or on your vagina.

You are late for your period by a week, which I know feels scary, but this is very normal. A home pregnancy test would be about 99% accurate at detecting any "pregnancy hormones" once you have missed your period. If you do not begin your period in another week, test again to confirm.

There are many reasons for a late, or even missed, period, including: stress, dramatic weight change, recent illness, new medication, underlying medical condition, or unknown factors. It is very common for women to be late, or even miss, a period, and in itself is not reason for concern if you are not pregnant. Your chances of pregnancy are slim, since you used protection (actually, you used the Withdrawal Method with your boyfriend pulling out before ejaculation and a condom...that is a very good use of safer sex practices!!), and if he did not ejaculate near/on your vagina, you can most likely trust in your negative pregnancy test results.

Try not to be consumed with stress (which can "cause" a late period, too), and be proud of yourself for using a condom. Test again in a week if your period does not start, and let us know the results.

Hi all, thank you for both being so supportive - it is lovely to find such a site!
I am still worrying about it now as my trusty monthly friend still hasn't come along (never in my life did I think i'd miss them but i'm begging for my period to come this month!) but am so grateful for your advice, it has put my mind at ease somewhat. I'm a natural worrier so missing a period in my mind automatically = pregnancy, but of course I know this is not always the case. Its just bizarre for me as I am never late normally, but then have been dwelling for some time as to whether i'm going to come on or not.
My partner and I are always careful and the only times i've been worried about are when he has ejaculated on me, but as I've said this was not near my vagina... infact the silly man managed to get some in my hair once. Not happy! It just worries me as he is my first proper sexual partner (for the precise reason that I didn't want to end up pregnant) and typically I would end up missing a period my first time! My friend who is sexually active did miss her period recently too I think or was very late, but she didn't end up pregnant... so that's always reassuring - but my brain doesn't seem to want to believe that i'm not - anxiety in overdrive!
I apologise for rambling I know you guys must get this all the time, but am very irrationally scared. I just really hope it would be ok, I could not deal with the idea of being pregnant - especially not around exam time where I need to get top grades to get into university!
I am going to see the doctor this Friday just as a more official means, so will let you know how it goes, but very pleased to hear the Home tests are 99 % accurate - I got the more expensive brands (and my purse is still hurting!) just to make sure and both have come back negative about 4 days after my period was due and 8 days - do you think these are pretty reliable then?
Like I say, thank you so much for all the help, nice to know there's a group out there to talk to.

Me again,
Fantastic news guys - got my period today!!! Albeit 10 days or so late, but so very, very happy.
Never in my life thought i'd be happy to be suffering my monthly cramps, but am so pleased.
Thanks so much for your support, am going to go to the doctors when over next week to get the contraceptive implant as well to stop all this worrying :)
Take care guys.
