Bariatric Surgeons: How Do They Gain Clinical Experience? - Dr. Hajduczek (VIDEO)

Dr. Hajduczek:
Before I started actually doing bariatric operation myself, operations myself, I assisted on somewhere near 3,000 operations working with other very experienced original bariatric surgeons and that’s how I gained experience on this huge amount of patients, both in operating room and in perioperative, perioperative care.

So when I did my first operation I, I was already much more experienced than even recent fellowship graduates that possibly work on, on couple or three hundred cases through a one or two year fellowship. And since then, I certainly do several hundred operations a year.

About Dr. Andrew Hajduczek, M.D.:
Dr. Andrew Hajduczek was born and raised in Poland where he graduated from The Silesian Medical Academy and finished internship and surgical training (5 years). After immigrating to the United States, he completed internship and the surgical residency program at UCI Medical Center in Orange, CA and started in busy private practice in the South Bay area in 1988. The scope of his practice included all aspects of general surgery (including laparoscopic – since 1990) as well as vascular and thoracic surgery. He served as Chief of Surgery in three hospitals (double terms after first being a Vice Chief there).
