Sharon describes what an asthma attack feels like.
Sharon:
When I have problems with asthma I simply can’t breathe. Just walking from room to room in my home wears me out, and the small airway as well as the large airway get, they get blocked. They get swollen and blocked and which prevents the airflow, and so it’s kind of miserable. Climbing stairs is next to impossible. I have difficulty climbing stairs when I am healthy and I don’t have asthma, but then I am getting older, too.
So I do have problems still with the small airway, but it’s somewhat under control, and of course when I do have an asthma attack the doctor prescribes the medication, a medication that I just can’t stand, but I have to take it. It’s the only thing that really works, but it makes you gain weight and it makes you a little hyper, but it does control the asthma because it controls the, the medication controls the swollen area.
