Dr. Navarro recalls if medical insurance will cover varicose vein treatments.

Dr. Navarro:
If they are real varicose veins of a certain size, and you can, you prove through Doppler or ultrasound that the valves do not work, that there is a called reflux, yes, most insurance companies will cover the procedures. Certainly they will cover the endovenous laser ablation or Endolaser ™. They will cover what’s called mini-phlebectomy in which means through little nicks we remove and hooks, we remove on the local anesthesia part of the vein and may cover sclerotherapy. Insurances do not like, even for medical reasons, to cover sclerotherapy since they consider that most of the sclerotherapy is done for cosmetic reasons.
