Dr. Mansfield explains how patients can verify they are cared for by experienced sleep apnea surgeons.
Dr. Mansfield:
You want to have a surgeon who is experienced and specializes in the area of sleep to be able to do the surgeries that are required and the sequence that is required to ultimately cure the patient. These surgeries are complex. The recovery is generally well tolerated and the results are very driven by the surgical experience and the type of surgery that is performed.
So I would encourage the patients to investigate your doctor; assure that they have a large experience doing sleep apnea surgery, that they are very comfortable with the operations that they are performing, so that your outcome will be of course the best it can be.
