In this episode of EmpowHER's "HER Health Minute," Dr. Connie Mariano shares tips for cleaning out your sinuses.

The itching, sneezing and aggravation of sinus irritation, so what can you do about it?

I am Dr. Connie Mariano, Chief Clinical Officer with EmpowHER, with some tips for relief from sinus problems.

‘Sinusitis’, the medical term is caused by allergies or infection. According to US National Library of Medicines’ PubMed website the first step in keeping your sinuses clear is to avoid infection.

Now it sounds silly but try to avoid those things that clog up your nose in the first place. Seeing allergies and pathology tested. To clear out stuffed up sinuses PubMed also recommends warm cleanup there, try a humidifier or hot shower and for more intense therapy, saline, nasal spray or Neti Pot can help too.

Now if you are using Neti Pot, make sure to use distilled or boiled water for safe treatment. If none of these therapies seem to work and the symptoms don’t go away, you may have a sinus infection and it’s time to see your doctor.

I am Dr. Connie Mariano with what you need to know about sinus problems.

Great video. Good tips in there. Thank you. Living in Southern Nevada we get some serious winds so alot of the dust and pollen is always in the air.
