Dr. Connie Mariano: No, we can’t stop it, but we can lesson the symptoms of menopause.
I’m Dr. Connie Mariano, Chief Clinical Officer with EmpowHER, with What You Can Do About Menopause.
The hot flashes, inability to sleep, muscle soreness, and fatigue can all be improved if you are willing to make some lifestyle changes.
Try these menopause tips from the Mayo Clinic…
Know what triggers your hot flashes and avoid them, if possible.
For some women, it’s spicy food or alcohol.
Avoid aggravating factors like caffeine, especially later in the day.
Stay physically active-moderate exercise for 30 minutes a day can help knock down menopause symptoms and improve your sleep.
Diet is important. Vegetables, grains, nuts, and fruit are all excellent choices.
Quit Smoking. Cigarettes are a known aggravator for menopause symptoms.
Finally, have sex.
You can use lube if needed, but a healthy sex life can help physically and emotionally with the symptoms of menopause.
If none of these tips help, see your doctor about your medical options for menopause.
Make sure to discuss the risks involved with more intense therapies.
