Joanna explains when she found out she had a developing hypothyroid condition.

Joanna:
Hi, my name is Joanna, and I am currently dealing with a hypothyroid, potential hypothyroid issue. I have a lot of the classic symptoms. I have dry skin, hair loss, swelling of the hands and feet, and I am just trying to figure out what’s going on.

Well, I have always had an issue with not having enough energy, and that’s kind of gotten worse over the years, but when I really realized it was when I went for my yearly exam, and you always think they will go well, they always have, and the doctor noticed something, and the doctor thought that it actually was a cyst on my ovary. What she said, “It’s probably a cyst, but why don’t you get it checked out?”

And I went in, had some more tests done. It turns out it actually wasn’t a cyst on my ovary; it was a fibroid, a uterine fibroid. So I went to my acupuncturist, back to my acupuncturist who I had gone to years before to see if there was any way to deal with decreasing the fibroid because talking to my doctor and then a new doctor that I switched to, the only option is surgery.

So I went to the acupuncturist and told him what was going on, and he told me that the reason why I have the fibroid is, and it’s growing, is because I have thyroid issues. That’s something I had always thought that I had, but that was the first time I ever heard someone tell me that I had.
