Q:

prolapse?

I've been to a gynecologist twice now and they have no idea what is wrong. I'm having a bulging in my vagina. Yet every time I go to the doctor they don't see anything? I know something is very wrong, it's so sore to walk anywhere and I cannot even begin to pick up heavy objects (over 5 pounds) anymore. Recently any time I have a bowel movement that same bulge comes back and it gets increasingly worse at that moment like something is coming out. The doctor checked me for prolapse but said she didn't see the slightest sign of it. If it's not bothering my in the front then there is a weird sensation near the anus. It's awful and I really wish I knew what was wrong. I started doing the pelvic floor exercises and although it seemed to help the front area it seems to make the back worse. I have not had any children yet but I have done an extensive amount of lifting the past two years, things I knew I really shouldn't be lifting but had no other choice. I have also had problems with constipation for years even when I do make a change in diet. Please if anyone has any answers or ideas it would be so helpful!!

Hi anonymous,
Thanks for your question and for finding EmpowHER. If the doctor thinks you're not experiencing a vaginal prolapse, then maybe the issue is elsewhere. Have you seen your regular GP about this? Did you tell your doctor about the heavy lifting you had been doing? I'm assuming that your doctor did a pelvic exam? Did the doctor do any other tests besides for looking at you? Does your constipation alternate with loose BMs? What kind of dietary changes have you made? Have you even been tested for GI issues or sensitivities to wheat/gluten? How much stress do you have in your life? I'm just throwing questions out to try and see if there is something that sparks an idea.
Let us know what you think about the questions. And how else we can help you get to the bottom of this condition.

I have not talked to a GP about it, it crossed my mind but at the moment I really have no idea what to do. The doctor I saw now has sent me to a Gynecologist surgeon. I thought it was a little strange and that's why I'm not sure if I should cancel because maybe it's a problem with my digestive track and not that area. I very much told her about the heavy lifting and she told me that that was the main reason she checked for the prolapse. I've had to two pap smears, a pelvic exam, a rectal exam, and they also did an ultrasound on my stomach and a somewhat internal vaginal ultrasound. The only time my BMs change drastically is when I take something. As far as dietary changes, I was having large amounts of vegetables twice a day and at least a bit of fruit, along with whole grain bread. Only then did things begin to get normal. I have not been tested for GI problems (by that you mean Glucose intolerance right?). However I believe I have a blood sugar problem. I've never for sure been tested for it but my mom has it and she experiences several of the same symptoms I do. As far as stress, I guess the most stressful thing at the moment is whatever is going on with me. Otherwise not nearly as bad as it has been in the past. I didn't know if a few of the other things I have problems with are related to this as well. Such as maybe it's not really a blood sugar problem it's related to this 'bulging' thing. I have a very low tolerance to heat even when I try to adjust myself to it. It feels just like I'm dehydrated. Yet at the same time I have probably already drank 8 , 12 oz glasses of water that day. I'm always drinking water even when it's not hot, otherwise i feel like I'm dehydrated. Thank you so much for replying, I've been so lost on what to do!

Hi,
I just wanted to comment: I believe Christine was referring to "Gastrointestinal" when she mentioned "GI". I will ask for her to reply, to make sure I am not misinterpreting her response.

Either way, being how I'm not really even sure what that is... I haven't had it done.
