Q:

I have been having 3week-1 month long periods w/ large clots. What could be causing the length and clots? Should I worry?

I'm Having Menstrual Bleeding for 3 Weeks. What's the cause?

I'm 29 yrs. old and I've been having my menstrual cycle for 3 weeks to 1 month with about a 2 week break between each period. Along with my period I have huge clots. This has been happening since I had my daughter in 2006. I saw a doctor about it and he just put me on birth control pills to try and regulate it, but that just caused me to have blood clots in my lungs. I went on Coumadin and my period was normal while I was on the meds. Now I'm off Coumadin and my period went back to being long again and with the huge clots. Is there something my doctors should be testing for? Why am I having a 3 week menstrual cycle? Can this cause complications with conceiving again? What is wrong with my cycle?

You are really young. You should talk to your mom about it. Don't be scared. It happens. If it is something serious they may be able to catch it while you are young.

I just turned 30 and have had this problem for the last 2 months. My last period was 21 days long and then I went off for about a week and went eoght back on. I have been clotting, feeling sleepy often, dizzy and hungry a lot. I had an ultrasound last month and all my tests but everything came out fine. So far I have been on this period for 21 days. It seemed to stop yesterday and started right back up. I had a quarter size cloth today and earlier this week. I also had another clot tonight. It is making me worried.... I called my doc earlier but she never called me back. I will call again in the AM.

Im 22 years old. I got my period when i was 9 years old.. Ive bee. To so many doctors and they really have no answer. All they have always told me was that i needed more iron in my blood. I usually get my period for like 1 month.. Then it goes away but then 3 days later i get it again for another month.. A few years ago i didnt get it for almost a year.. Then BOOM! I got my period for almost 6 months straight!! And that time the doctor said i was too active and thats why it didnt come down.. One time i woke up one morning and i was in so much paid that i seriously couldnt stand.. (I take pain pretty well!! I do martial arts for crying out loud.. Sooo anyways)... So im stuck here.. I dont know what the hell to do next.. The doctors always tell me different things. Now im on birth control and its coming down harder and faster!! I feel like im dying sometimes. Doctors dont have any answers!!! Help please!

hi i have the same problem, last fortnight i finished my periods usually they come between 35 to 30 days, but now it came back after 15 days, i hae no pain associated with the periods. they are light. it's been almost a week no sign of period stopping, i scheduled an appointment t with my obgyn next week , I'm not going to use the pill if requested i prefer surgery to remove my fibroids. Strange they are smal in size can they cause many problems? i also got a decrease in appetite but my weight remained the same, not a usual thing when i reduce calorie intake usually i loose weight right away, i heard fibroid tumours make you gain weight. help

I am 14 1/2 but have had my period since I was 10. My cycle has always been regular until 3 months ago when my periods were starting to come every 1.5-2 weeks. My most recent period was heavy with massive clots and lasted 3 weeks (also with back and abdomenal pain), and now I am having large amounts of discharge. What could be wrong?

Hi,

I'm 49 years old, have been on depo-provera since 7/8/14 (to stop ovarian cysts from forming) and was tested for ovarian cancer on 5/27, the day before my 49th b-day. Luckily, no cancer, but the depo shot I am truly wondering about. First shot in July 2014 was okay and periods slowed down. Took 2nd shot Oct 3rd and no period until 11/22-I am now on day 12 of current cycle (no sign of stopping) and wonder if I need to chat w/gyno about possibility of having hysterectomy. Have been periomenipausal for 4 years and this is ruining sleep, health and my career...your thoughts?

This is exactly what I fear... getting the depo and risk getting clots in my lungs, only for it not to work. I think I would rather deal with hot flashes and just take a supplement for my bones and to boost sexdrive.
I tried the pineapple juice and lemon juice and it slowed down dramatic ally for a few hours, but came back with clots
I am so scared. Keep me in your prayers
