I have been having 3week-1 month long periods w/ large clots. What could be causing the length and clots? Should I worry?

I'm Having Menstrual Bleeding for 3 Weeks. What's the cause?

I'm 29 yrs. old and I've been having my menstrual cycle for 3 weeks to 1 month with about a 2 week break between each period. Along with my period I have huge clots. This has been happening since I had my daughter in 2006. I saw a doctor about it and he just put me on birth control pills to try and regulate it, but that just caused me to have blood clots in my lungs. I went on Coumadin and my period was normal while I was on the meds. Now I'm off Coumadin and my period went back to being long again and with the huge clots. Is there something my doctors should be testing for? Why am I having a 3 week menstrual cycle? Can this cause complications with conceiving again? What is wrong with my cycle?

i know what you are going through about 2 years ago i had a really bad infection in my tooth it was abscessed and hurting so bad i had to have an emergency removal of it from the oral surgeon i was also due for my period that same week the next day my period came and it lasted a whole month and a half. first it was light then it was heavy then it became light again so i said great the antibotics for my tooth are giving me this strange period one day when i thought i was done with my period i was out and i felt this gush i went to the bathroom and my pad was soaked and then some with lots of clotting i called my dr and they told me if it does not clear by the next day or gets worse go to er. my dr ran some test and could not find anything wrong. and it stoped

now i have my period got it yesterday but it is supper light and a salmon color i am worried only beacuse i started a new drug last month proporanol (inderal 60m) to regulate headaches and my slightly high bp.

we also are ttc so not sure if could be period is light from the meds, or that i could have conceived but i am spotting? took a pg test a few days ago and it was negative but i think i took it to soon

I started having the same problem almost 3 months ago. I started bleeding and thought it was just a normal period, but it never stopped. After a month, I called my gyno to schedule an appointment and by the time I could get in, it had been going 2 months and had very heavy large clots. I'm 29 years old, and I have never had any kids. I always had regular menstral cycles before. I went to the GYN and they couldn't find anything wrong. Their only suggestion was birth control but I don't want to take it because I DO want to have kids. The bleeding stopped for about a week but now has returned with a vengeance, and the heavy clotting has returned as well. Some of the clots I am seeing are about half the size of my hand (not trying to be gross), and I am having some pretty bad cramping to go along with it. I just don't know what to do anymore. Dr.s say everything appears normal and every test comes back normal. The ONLY thing I had wrong was a vitamin D3 deficiency and I have been taking supplements since then.

I was "diagnosed" was a severe Vitamin D deficiency as well. I went on the prescription of vit d. I soon after started having menstrual problems. Although at the time I was 41 (now 43) I went to the gyno. I found I had a "small" fibroid inside of my uterus. She wanted to take the "wait and see" method. I don't understand this at all....its more like wait and watch me bleed to death! My doctor told me "your fibroid is not causing any symptoms"? OMG she is f--- crazy, this is the root of all my problems! I found that a vit d deficiency can cause fibroids. I have diligently researched the internet for natural cures. It is exhausting but know that a vit d deficiency can cause Fibroids. Good luck.

i am 41 and my periods have been very heavy in the past....only these last 4 months its been a relentless heavy flow with only a few days of light flow to break them up. the clots are non stop and very large. i am already taking iron supplements, vitamins c, d and b complex. the anemia continues and i am very weak, tired, depressed. i have also been extremely forgetful and emotional. i am petrified.

I am experiencing the same things, it is exhausting mentally, physically and spiritually. I understand and feel for you. I did every test with my gyno she found a "small fibroid" inside my uterus, I wanted to take it out (very naive) and she said "we can't do that". She said it is not causing you any problems...are you kidding me?!! People want you to wait until menopause and then what just live in hell right now, NO! Take the net and do your research. I am fighting the good fight and I am working diligently to get well. Yes "get well" this is NOT normal by any means and don't let any doctor or person tell you it is....it is NOT. I have found alot of great info at www.earthclinic.com and had to do many searches on how to get well again. I refuse to let this ruin me...fight the good fight girlfriend. Try not to give up and give yourself some time to find solutions through food changes, vitamins, minerals and stress reduction and hope we don't bleed to death in the meantime. In closing, Western medicine doctors are VERY limited in their knowledge base and make money for hysterecomies. Thank you..be well...best wishes!
