3 months ago, I got cough and sore throat and I didn't go to the doctor. But I was drinking hot drinks and honey and eventually I got well. Then after a while, I'd wake up from my sleep and cough or if I laugh too hard I would cough continuously. Anyways, three weeks ago I caught cold and also the cough was back again I saw a doctor and he gave me medicine syrup for the cough and antibiotic. I got well within a week. But the cough returned again, I'd wake up from my sleep to cough or again if I laugh I'd cough. Also, I notice whenever I have this cough my chin gets itchy.

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER.

Asthma is a condition in which your airways narrow and swell and produce extra mucus. This can make breathing difficult and trigger coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath.

Asthma signs and symptoms include:

Shortness of breath
Chest tightness or pain
Trouble sleeping caused by shortness of breath, coughing or wheezing
A whistling or wheezing sound when exhaling (wheezing is a common sign of asthma in children)
Coughing or wheezing attacks that are worsened by a respiratory virus, such as a cold or the flu

Regards,
Maryann
