Q:

An 85 year old woman has levels of sodium alarmingly low...in the 120s, with no obvious causes. She works around her house and was travelling to an event but not having slept well or eaten much and having some chest pain (periodically over time and then)

she went to the hospital after resting and feeling better at home. That's when they found her low sodium levels which are not responding to pills or sodium serum. What might she ask, eat, refrain from, drink (water, how much, electrolytes...etc)..What other tests could help determine a cause..and might acupuncture or pressure be helpful, herbs and such?

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to our community.

But, what you are asking is beyond our roles. Any further diagnostic testing, diet and lifestyle changes and any way to increase her sodium levels must be done by her primary care physician.
