38 days into my cycle and a negative HPT?

My husband and I are trying to get pregnant for the first time. This is the first month we have tried and I have 38 days into my cycle. My last period was on February 24 and we have been having sex almost every other day to every two days so I'm not sure when the last time we had sex was but I do know we stopped about a week ago because I was getting close to the end of my cycle, or so I thought. I have taken one HPT but it came up negative. I know that it's not completely abnormal to have a 38 day cycle but unfortunately I am really anticipating whether I am or not. I have been under some stress lately but nothing unusual and my cycle has been anywhere from 28 days to 30 days since I can remember. However, last month it was 34 days and last month was the first month I was actually off the pill and this month is the first month that we have tried. I just don't have anyone else that I can talk to so I'm not really sure what to expect.

Hi ephig,

Sure. Your doctor can prescribe a medication that can help induce your period and you can also take the time to ask any questions you may have.

Keep us posted!

Hi ephig,

Usually a 38 day cycle is considered late. However, because you just got off the pill recently, it may take a few months for your period to reach a "regular" state. The bit of stress that you've been feeling lately could also play a role. When was the last time you tested for pregnancy? If it was within 2-4 days, then if you were pregnant you would've had a positive test by now so chances are you may not be regular just yet.

Keep trying to conceive, sending positive vibes your way!
