Dialysis Patient: How Can She Advocate For Her Health?

Rate This

Sharon describes how a new dialysis patient can advocate for her health.

Sharon:
I would say that in order to understand what you are going to be going through or understand what your feelings may be, I would think it would be important to educate yourself, read up on it, talk to people, talk to those that may already be on it.

I would say also, and in most in-center dialysis centers they have a social worker. It is a team that comes together to help you, even in home hemodialysis there is a team that comes together to help and I would say that, get as much information on it as you can. There’s going to be fears, but those fears can be diminished and be alleviated.
