C-Section: How Was Your Recovery?

Catrina recalls the recovery from her cesarean section (C-section).

Catrina:
My recovery following my c-section was different in the fact that I was not at home with my baby right away. He was at Banner Thunderbird and so, recovery was almost more exhausting because I had to not only take care of my other children, but then go to the hospital to make sure he was being taken care of, which he was obviously taken care of very well.

So it took me a little bit longer I think just because of going back and forth I would exhaust myself. I’d want to stay at the hospital longer than I should have. I pushed myself a lot longer. I didn’t eat as well because I was way more worried about my child than myself and I have really good family members that were saying, “Let’s go home; let’s take it easy. He will be okay,” and that’s where calling the nursing staff and then allowing me to bug them, you know, was so important that they allowed me to do.

It was, I called every shift change and not one nurse acted annoyed at all and I am sure that I probably did annoy them at one point but, so recovery was a little bit more difficult but they made it as easy as they could from a distance.
