Heart Attack Treatment: How Quickly Did The Doctors Treat Your Husband When He Had Chest Pains?

Beverly recalls what happened when her husband started experiencing chest pains and how quickly the doctors at Banner North Colorado Medical Center treated him.

Beverly:
Two years ago my husband was out shoveling snow, shouldn’t have been but he was, came in very quietly, sat in his chair and I said, “Are you okay?” Oh well, didn’t feel very perky and I thought because he is diabetic maybe, you know, got him a glass of orange juice. But when I walked in he was pale and I said, “Are you having pain?” And he only indicated pain and I immediately called the ambulance.

We were told before they took care of him there at the house, but we were told before they ever left there that they would bring him directly to the cath lab, at the same facility that I came to at North Colorado Medical Center, and they did bring him here.

By the time all of us got up here they had already placed a stent. Dr. Rath from the cardiovascular center had a stent in Bob in 18 minutes and this was because of a new alert program that they had instigated in this facility back in 2006, I believe, and so, I think I know that their theory is that the faster they get the stent in, the less damage there will be to the heart muscle and so I can only think in 18 minutes time that Bob does not have any difficulty or any damage to his heart.
