Hubby is 14 years older than me and we have been married for 8 years. When we were dating he only used a cane. I thought I could easily deal with that. Since then his health has gotten progressively worse. Balance issues (which could have been avoided if he had done his exercises), circulation issues in both legs, diabetic ulcers, back surgeries, neck surgery and now an upcoming hip surgery with a knee surgery to follow. He can barely walk, and fell yesterday while I was out food shopping and he called 911. I was paged at the store and had to come immediately. He wasn't hurt - he's just over 300 pounds and he knew I couldn't lift him. It's been too much too fast and our marriage has become me just being a caretaker for the most part. I never wanted this, and I'm thinking more and more that he needs to be put in a home with 24 hour care. We are already broke and in huge debt. He would be fine because they would take his disability money and retirement money from him. I would be penniless and homeless.
