Susan describes her motivation for sharing her rheumatoid arthritis experience with others.
Susan:
The things that motivate me are, first of all, I feel very fortunate to have my disease under control and I feel like, it is my obligation to give back and help others who might not know that they don’t just have to accept the pain, that there’s something that they can do about it. They can go see a doctor who might be able to advise them of the newer medications that are out there.
When I was a kid, I was taking 11 aspirin a day and wearing splints at night and had to drop out of all my extra physical activities. Today, you know, I lift weights, I run, I play softball, so I am very fortunate, and it’s my duty to make sure that other people know of the opportunities out there for them.
