Jean shares if there are any foods she loves and is forced to avoid and secrets for controlling her diet.
Jean:
That’s going to be hard for me because as a child I got myself on a regimen of being restricted with foods so I’d see foods and I see other people. I went on cruises, my husband and I have been married 52 years. We have been on several cruises and not at any time did I eat any of those things and if anybody has ever been on a cruise they will know exactly what I am talking about. I mean it’s just a plethora of food all day long.
So, I can’t really think of something that I absolutely want and have a hard time staying away from, but I know that there are diabetics that do. We have friends that are diabetics that have an extremely hard time with and I try to tell them, “See, if you can make a substitution of one thing for another and you’ll feel like you weren’t denying yourself so much that way,” because it’s the denial that’s very hard for people, self-denial.
