Princeline describes how she copes with her husband who was diagnosed with dementia after a stroke.
Princeline:
My husband is 23 years older than I am, the typical self-made man, very proud, and when he had his first small stroke, it was frightening. But then as I watched him not be able to talk about what he had for breakfast but be able to remember what he did in high school here in Phoenix, you learn to cope.
You start, at least I did, you want to cover up. It’s like having a little child. You do not want someone else to criticize him so you make sure you do not do certain things and you explain to people ahead of time in case he does make a mistake. But the main thing is, is that you love them and you give them the adoration they need, the praise they need, and the love.
