If you suffer from chronic headaches that are not migraines and do not respond to other treatments, you may be interested in the following.
There are many things that can cause headaches. In the case of chronic issues it becomes essential to don the guise of ‘health detective’ and examine all of the clues.
Here are some clues to the causes of chronic headache:
The food you consume must always come out in some fashion!
One reaction to your food may be headaches which are typically an inflammatory response disorder. The reaction might indicate the food you are consuming things like dairy, wheat and gluten, caffeine or sugar might indeed be the culprits.
Common chemicals found in our processed foods can may also be huge suspects in traccking down the contributing factors leading to headaches. These chemicals are typically found in sugar-free foods – such as diet sodas, yogurts and even commercial gum.
Even a preservative introduced in the fifties – MSG - is found everywhere from seasonings to salad dressings and often on salad bar lettuce to keep it looking fresh and appetizing.
Caveat emptor (buyer beware!) prevails in the food that you put into your bodies. It’s your responsibility to know what’s in your food – food you consumme represent the basic building blocks of your life.
Simply stated, there is nothing of greater importance to our bodies than the food we eat. Unless you’re on medications I don’t know about, look at your food as your first line of suspecion when suffering from chronic headaches.
An inflammatory response disorder is the culmination of years of abuse due to foods, chemicals and stress. Skin eruptions, acid reflux, allergies, headaches and so many more symptoms are the ways in which this disorder manifests itself in our bodies.
For years our bodies try to show us clues, or symptoms. Eventually our bodies do break down after giving us providing these clues. This results in an autoimmune response disorder. The final results include diseases such as diabetes, fibromyalgia, cancer, arthritis and many other autoimmune diseases which are so prevalent today.
Inspect what you do daily - look at the foods you consume.
-- Drinking a lot of diet soda? Cut it out!
-- Are you eating mostly dairy products? Then try cutting those out.
Be your own body's detective in searching for the clues to your chronic headaches.
Empowering you to a better, healthier life. Gratitude,

Hello Dr. Dena Mendes,
Thank you for raising awareness of the connection between food and beverage consumption, and headaches. Keeping a food and beverage diary may help a person narrow down what precipitates a headache. Note what you consume and when you have a headache.

Thank you Maryann, Yes I have many of my clients create a week long food journal. If you find that you are consuming more acidic or yin foods, such as sugar at every meal, even if that sugar is oatmeal and fruit for breakfast, and not enough yang foods such as soup and stews, fish and beans or legumes and of course greens., you must ry to adjust your food choices. try starting your day off with miso soup instead of cereal or oatmeal , it will aid in digestion through the rest of your day and offers the health flora for the intestine.
