Q:

Will it decrease effectiveness of birth control pill if it is taken early?

I’ve been on a combination birth control pill for the past few years. Today I spaced, and accidentally took my pill about 8 hrs earlier than usual. I normally would not worry about this, but it was the last active pill in my current pack, and i’ve had recent sex without using a condom. All other pills in pack have been taken as normal, around the correct time. Would this early pill be an issue?

Hello. Thank you for posting.

Taking one pill early shouldn't change the effectiveness. You didn't skip taking the pill, you took it, just early.
