Q:

When a woman has cirrhosis of the liver, and has had for some years, what does it mean when her abdomen swells to about three times it's size? Can you say about what stage?

Hello. Thank you for posting.

Abdominal swelling or bloating - from fluid retention is one of the symptoms of Cirrhosis. To what degree at what stage, I cannot say with certainty. Your doctor would be the one to tell you what stage you are in. I can give you some general information.
