I had unprotected sex but my period was due to start about 3 days after, I took one postinor 2 within 72 hours but I didn’t know I was supposed to take 2. The pharmacist only sold me one, it’s been 2 days since I took it, what to do?

and thanks for your question. The package instructions for Postinor-2 state that the second tablet must be taken 12 hours after the first tablet. You should get, and take, a second tablet as soon as possible. The delay may reduce the effectiveness but it is difficult to predict. The manufacturer does state that when taken as directed Postinor-2 has an 85% chance of preventing pregnancy. If taken within 24 hours, there is a 95% chance of preventing pregnancy. If taken after 48-72 hours, there is a 58% chance. It is not known whether it is effective if taken more than 72 hours after unprotected intercourse.

Hope all goes well for you. Pat
