I was at a friends house and forgot to take the pill for 2 days, when I got home and realised I took 2 pills straight away and 2 pills the next morning! I am needing to skip my period this month but if I do so will I still be protected? or do I need to get my period and start over?

Considering the missed doses, I suggest you continue to take a daily pill until you finished the active doses, use back up protection if you are sexually active and wait for the breakthrough bleeding, then begin a new pack.
