Q:

I've been having this pain in my upper thigh that feels like it knots up and shoots down to my knee and my muscle right above my knee feels like it knots up also. It happens when I sit down, from my knee to my hip cramps like I can't straighten it out.

And when I go to stand up it does the same thing but the pain is so intense I have to sit back down. I literally cannot move my leg. I will sometimes have to sit and stand 3-4 times before I can bear any weight on it to walk. I can go down stairs but cannot lift my leg to go up. I can just be sitting and if I move wrong it cramps.

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.

We cannot diagnose any condition for you but you may be dealing with sciatica. Sciatica is irritation of the sciatic nerve that passes down the back of each thigh. But if all your pain is down the front, sciatica may not be the problem.

Other possibilities are diabetes, an internal injury or even a blood clot, which is why you should get this pain evaluated sooner rather than later. Please keep us posted.
Best,
Susan
