Q:

I have a red bump on my eyelid. What is it, and what should I do?

I'm not sure if this is a "stye" (spelling?) or not on my eye, but it is a little itchy, and red and tender. I have two of them, actually, on the same eye: one on the upper eyelid, and one underneath on the lower eye lid.

Is this an infection, or allergy or something else? Will it go away on its own, or should I do something about it?

It goes away. I have them today. At first it was on my left upper eyelid the even worse on my right both itched but dont scrach it clears up. It was probly dirty hands that caused the bumps. Just take a shower with antibacterial soap.

I have the red bump inside my lower eyelid and also have a great deal of swelling underneathe the eye like it is full of fluid - a big bag under my eye. I have been using a warm compress with marigold petals and leaves infused in the water and the swelling is half way reduced after 10 minutes but not all gone. The red bump is still there. I will continue this treatment and post again to let you know the results.

Please do update us, Anon, and if it doesn't completely go away, consider letting a doctor take a look. The bump may have scratched or irritated your eye, and you might need some antibiotic ointment. I'm very glad the marigold compress is helping. Where did you learn to use marigold in this way?
