Q:

I have a red bump on my eyelid. What is it, and what should I do?

I'm not sure if this is a "stye" (spelling?) or not on my eye, but it is a little itchy, and red and tender. I have two of them, actually, on the same eye: one on the upper eyelid, and one underneath on the lower eye lid.

Is this an infection, or allergy or something else? Will it go away on its own, or should I do something about it?

i think i have the same thing on my lower eyelid. what i do is i just put heat against it. for example, i make some hot tea and let the smoke come against my eye. then it goes away in a few days or a week, depending on how bug it is. but it is due to some dirty stuff on your eyes or near it.

Hi Anonymous,
I am sure you read the comments about raised eye issues on this post. Have you been to a physician yet? What did they say?

Thnaks for the additional information.

i started out with a small slightly raised bump under my left eye towards the bottom of my eyelid its dry and the skin looks a little flaky it itches sometimes and seems to be raised more when it does i found last night 2more bumps on the same eye. one is at the inside corner of my eye and about half the size. the other is on the top eye lid right above the crease it is hardly raised at all i think the only way it is raised is the fact that the skin is flaky. they seem to itch more when im stressed or tired which i have been both since the begining of the year. i really want to find out what this is and how to cure it they are really bothering me

Hi anon (Aug 12th),

Styes do usually go away on their own after a short amount of time.

Can you describe the bump/lump? Is it painful? How large is it? Is it effecting your eye or the surrounding area? Do you suspect inflammation? Is the lump hard or soft to the touch? Any discharge?

Hi Alison....
no the lump is not painful...for a couple days a certain way i would look it was a little painful but not too bad.....it isn't really affecting my 'vision' but it does get a little pussy sometimes in the mornings....it is a little swollen at times and it is soft to touch

mom,
If the lump is pussy and has not gone away after a few days, I would get it checked out by a doctor or a walk-in clinic. Let's rule out any medical condition, or infection that could get worse over-time. At least a call into your doctor's office, to talk with a nurse would be a good idea!
