My bf and I had unprotected sex right atfer I just ended my period I took plan B pills and the next day I got my period again even though I just had it 3 days earlier. But now I still haven't gotten my period. Is it possible that I'm just late?

Can anyone please help me? I'm thinking I'm just going to get my period really late. Or is it possible that I am pregnant? Answers asap please.

I have a question -- I think I'm supposed to start my period in the next day or so (i forgot to track from last month on my calendar). My boyfriend is coming in town tomorrow and I haven't seen him in months. In an effort to delay my period, I bought the MOrning After Pill. Does anyone know if this will in fact delay my period? Even just for two or three days? Any response would be very helpful!

No, morning after pill can actually do the opposite and cause more bleeding when you least expect it!

Emergency contraception does not delay a period...it can actually lead to breakthrough bleeding (bleeding when you do not expect it) and withdrawal bleeding (bleeding after the excess synthetic hormones are no longer in your body). Emergency contraception is a "mega dose" of hormones, and does not work to regulate or change your menstrual cycle. Your menstrual cycle is determined throughout the month (first day of period is usually 2 weeks after ovulation). The time to stop a menstrual cycle is the month before-- not two days before-- by using regular hormonal contraception. There are specific ways to use your regular birth control pills consistently, while skipping the non-hormone containing "reminder pills" and going straight to a new pack of hormone-containing pills. You may still experience some breakthrough bleeding (spotting), but most likely not a period.

I've been trying to read through this post to see if there are cases similar to my own, but I'm mostly finding mention of "spotting."
I took Plan B not an hour after my boyfriend's condom broke, and then six days later experienced a medium to heavy 3-day flow (which came only two weeks after my normally scheduled cycle).
I had no other side effects except for slight wooziness the following day, but of course I'm still concerned. I've heard things about periods (aka more than spotting) during pregnancy and Im trying to figure out whether it'/s too early for a sigh of relief.
Thanks for all you who help out/disperse information on here!

Hi Anonymous,
The words "medium to heavy flow" are your key. The PlanB seems to have done what it was supposed to do. You may want read through the emergency contraception article (below) to make sure you are aware of what to expect in the coming weeks.
For more information, please review this article: Emergency Contraception Update, 2010.

Ok so I have a similar problem. I had a hook-up go wrong! We had sex monday 12/20 in the morning and when he came the condom broke. It was a brand new pack of trojan ultra thin expiration date 3 years from date used...anyway we went and bought next choice cause they were out of plan B. I took the first pill @ 2pm and the following @ 2am...I experienced no side effects except for a slight headache. We had sex again 12/22 and we didn't want the condom to break again so he pulled out. Sun night 12/26 I have started a light brownish red sort of period...is it normal to have a period 5 days after plan B? Also another concern is when he came and the condom broke I was having a deep orgasm as well, does coming simultaneously increase risk of pregnancy since the vagina walls are pulsating?

Hi clpowell87,
Please read the emergency contraception article posted by Pat Elliot in the comment right above yours. The fact you immediately took plan B should decrease any chance of pregnancy resulting from the condom breaking. The article explains that the "light brownish sort of period" you experienced is normal. It also explains what to expect in the coming weeks as you await your next period. Here also is an article about avoiding "wardrobe malfunctions" in the future:
Help! The Condom Broke During Sex: How to Prevent "Wardrobe Malfunctions".
Good luck and let us know how you're doing.

Taking emergency contraception can change your cycle schedule. Please review this article for information on the side effects or you can also find information on the manufacturer's website.

I am confused. Please confirm or refute this: so after taking Plan B, and having unexpected Breakthrough Bleeding, it still IS possible to be pregnant?
