Husband has had a tooth abscess for 5 days now. He has severer swelling on side of face,dropping on side of face, numbness in lips, and severe pain. He has been on antibiotics for 72 hours now with no changes. Went to er 24 hours ago and dr. changed

antibiotics with still no change. He is now complaining of leg numbness. I am very very concerned about possible infection in blood stream or possible sepsis. Please help.

Thank you for your post.

Hopefully, this new antibiotic will help. The source of the infection is the tooth/abscess which needs to be drained and the tooth removed if deemed necessary. Once the source of the infection is gone, this will improve his condition. He needs to see an oral surgeon. Call the ER doctor you saw or go back if his condition does not improve.
