Hi, Anon,

What have your doctors told you about your treatment with cisplatin?

On a web site of pharmaceutical information, here is what I found about administration of this drug:

Pretreatment hydration with 1 to 2 L of fluid infused for 8 to 12 hours prior to a cisplatin dose is advised. The diluted drug is then infused over a 6 to 8 hour period. Maintain adequate hydration and urinary output over the next 24 hours.

That sounds to me like it's pretty much a daylong procedure. Is this what your doctors have told you?

Here's that page of information on Cisplatin:

http://www.rxmed.com/b.main/b2.pharmaceutical/b2.1.monographs/CPS-%20Monographs/CPS-%20%28General%20Monographs-%20C%29/CISPLATIN%20INJECTION.html

Another site I found also had the information on pre- and post-hydration, but noted that the Cisplatin could be administered over a time period of an hour or two. It noted, however, a longer infusion time of 6-8 hours may decrease gastrointestinal and renal toxicities.

Here's that second reference:

Does this help?
