Does PID go away after doing the treatment or does it stay?

My girlfriend has been diagnosed with PID and I want to know if the treatment can make it go away and never come back, or if it's an on-going treatment. I am gay so maybe that piece of information can help you answer my question. Also is there a form of protection that gay couples are supossed to use?

Anon - Thanks for your question and seeking information for your girlfriend's health and well-being (and yours as well). Most of the time PID can be treated with antibiotics. There is however, the chance of recurrence, and I would strongly suggest both of you review the following articles to learn more about the causes, potential complications and treatment. This will help both of you stay healthy for the long run. Pat
