Hi, I'm 23 years old lady and I'm still a virgin. I have a bf and we've been together for more than 4 years. We never had 'real' penetration or sexual intercourse (saving it for the marriage). But today we made out and he only put his tip into me (only like half an inch to an inch) but did not cum in me. I am just a little concerned and went online to search for answers, and some people even mentioned that with what i've done, i'm actually not a virgin anymore! but no pain no blood flow happened.

Anyway, my question is, will i get pregnant this way? isit really true that if sperm was only near the vagina, i will get pregnant?

only supportive and real answers please.. i know i shud've used contraception, but it was our first time, and we didn't really planned for it to happen.

thanks..

Hi moevysan,
Thank you for your comment and for joining EmpowHER. You should not need to take the next day pill. You are not pregnant, and cannot get pregnant, because he was wearing a condom when he tried to penetrate you. You may be right that the reason that it hurt so much is because you are scared. Perhaps if you educate yourself about sexual activity, and know that if you use contraception (some methods are condoms every time, spermicide, withdrawal, and birth control pills), you will have an easier time with it. You may want to pick two methods and use them every time so you will know there is no risk of unwanted pregnancy. Sex should be enjoyable and not hurt.

Hi Anonymous,
Anytime you have sex and don't use contraception, there is risk of pregnancy. It often can be hard to tell if a penis is "dry" or not, especially when engaging in sexual activity, that's why it's important to use a condom or some other form of birth control every time if you are concerned about pregnancy. Pre-ejaculate doesn't contain sperm, but it can catch sperm left behind from previous ejaculation. Considering pre-ejaculate, the risk is low for causing pregnancy, but there is some risk. The withdrawal method of birth control is only about 70% accurate at preventing pregnancy.

She can wait 10 days and if she doesn't get her period, she can then take a home pregnancy test or request one from her doctor's office. Emergency contraception is only effective if taken within 72 hours of having sexual intercourse. If there is great concern, and it is still within that time, she can take emergency contraception now. Here is an article to know what to expect from taking emergency contraception: Emergency Contraception Update, 2010.

No you're fine. As mentioned, the risk of her getting pregnant from the activity you engaged in is low, but there is risk. Use a condom or some other form of birth control (abstinence, birth control pills, spermicide, etc.) every time you are intimate if you are concerned about pregnancy.
Hope this helps~
