The most common side effect of the flu shot is a reaction at the injection site, soreness, redness, warmth, and in some cases, slight swelling.  Headaches, a slight fever or some achiness in the muscles is also common.

Severe allergic reactions usually happen within a few hours of receiving the vaccine. Symptoms include:
hives
swelling
trouble breathing
fast heart rate
dizziness
weakness
If you have any of these symptoms, don't hesitate to seek medical help.
