Cheri describes her gastric bypass revision surgery and recovery.
Cheri:
After surgery, my gastric bypass recovery from surgery went actually very, very well. It was the best surgery I had been through. Dr. Dahiya was able to perform it laparoscopically, which was a miracle for me. I never thought that I’d ever be able to have any abdominal laparoscopic surgery. Because of that, my pain level was moderate, and before, I was in such severe pain because I had open procedures five times, and it’s very painful for them to open you up.
So, I was on my feet that night after the procedure. The next day I was up and moving around, and the hospital staff is trying to find me; I am working the halls, walking back and forth, feeling good, you know, drinking some things that I was able to drink and just having a good time, visiting with other patients. I felt good from the start and I have natural energy and zest for life and I am able to share that with people. That’s a big part of it for me.
I was able to be on my own very quickly; I’d say within the first week. I had a little bit of help just to monitor, just to make sure that I was able to take care of things, and since I live alone, I needed to be able to get in and out of bed comfortably, and I did. It was fine. I didn’t have any problems, and I was able to go back to work within a few weeks and renewed pretty much everything within about six weeks. I was back to full speed, full speed ahead, and I like that. And that’s how I like to live life is full speed ahead, and I couldn’t have done it without Dr. Dahiya’s support, his staff, and I cannot say enough kind words about it, and I wish you luck.
