Peter Rosen, MD, is the Medical Director of Clinical Research at The Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center. He is board-certified in internal medicine with subspecialty certifications in hematology and medical oncology.
Dr. Rosen is a graduate of the Keck School of Medicine at USC. He completed his internship and medical residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and did his fellowship training at the National Cancer Institute and USC. After two years on the USC Hematology Faculty, Dr. Rosen entered private practice and was an attending physician at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and other local hospitals. In 1978 he rejoined USC as acting chief of medical oncology and professor of clinical medicine and was active on the staffs of the Norris Cancer Hospital and Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. At UCLA, he was professor of clinical medicine and director of the Solid Tumor Service of the Division of Hematology-Oncology. His research interests have focused on the treatment of lymphomas, sarcomas and prostate cancer.
Dr. Rosen believes that large community hospitals such as Providence Saint Joseph will be the focus of an increasing proportion of clinical trials. One of his main goals is to foster the development of a seamless, collaborative research program encompassing the ongoing hematology-oncology practices on the staffs of the Providence hospitals in the San Fernando Valley and South Bay. With the belief that the San Fernando Valley area has been largely underserved with respect to such clinical research, the presence of the Disney Family Cancer Center will have a major impact in promoting a unified cancer research program throughout the Providence system.
