At age 35, Alice was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis. In 2004, just after turning 49, her bone mineral density (BMD) scored a - 4.5; a score expected from someone in her 90s.
As one of the country's fastest growing epidemics, osteoporosis is just beginning to receive the public attention it deserves. Due to her age and the severity of her osteoporosis, Alice wants to speak out, draw awareness to the disease and its causes and encourage people to see their family doctor and get a bone density test. It is her mission to increase awareness, education and encourage prevention.
Alice is an advocate for the National Osteoporosis Foundation. She holds monthly meetings in her community that are open to the public and free of charge. Alice is the author of “Living Day To Day With Severe Osteoporosis.”
