For me it became the “Fight of my life”

The secret in life is letting Go...breathe and know that you will be Ok...these past 6 yrs of my life have been a roller coaster, but when I look back...I do not think I would change anything for my journey in Life has made me who I am today.
EmpowHer has been a tool for me that has been the missing resource link I have been looking for all this time.

Growing up one of 13 all adopted has been an awesome journey..but you still go through that "Who am I" phase in life. While I was a normal 19yrd old..I still had the thoughts... what is wrong with me?? by this age I still had not had a menstrual cycle. Not until 2007 did I find out I had premature Ovarian Failure that then lead to a full Hysterectomy in 2008..after my surgery I was not given any answers to what was going to happen next with my body? I found myself falling into a deep depression and almost took my life...while in the hospital I was looking on line for any kind of information I could find on young females with health issues like me, I was thinking what now? I am unable to have kids and who is going to want to marry me in this condition and I felt less of a woman. I then came across the EmpowHer site and read Michelle's story..I also read other woman's stories and it was then along with a prayer that I decided I am now taking charge of my own health and life.
During this time frame I was also losing my hair..not knowing why? I found out that I have Androgenic Alopecia... I am a hair artist so I am able to create and design my own wigs... by launching my own wig line "I am" by Christina, will allow me to not only help others who struggle with hair loss but allow myself to heal and embrace my fear of losing my hair.

Having being diagnosed with Osteoporosis in October of 2008 has also been hard; I am on Bonevia once a month. I am hoping that this will indeed reverse my bone loss. I am now an active supporter of the National Osteoporosis Foundation and help raise funds and awareness to this silent disease that can affect women now at even a younger age.

I have learned that becoming an advocate for your own health is so important, and I am so glad I was directed by EmpowHer into the right path, by being proactive I found out in May 2010 that I was misdiagnosed with IBS and through a colonoscopy and a biopsy of my colon we found that I have microscopic colitis. While I still struggle with high cholesterol numbers I am learning this is all starting to make me a stronger person.

I now am becoming more and more aware of what my body is telling me, starting in May 2009 when I met the EmpowHer team...my life has changed for the better, I have gained more knowledge about my health and have began taking enzymes and natural supplements that have been a missing link in my body. Just by changing the way I eat and exercise for bones and health..I have lost 58 lbs. I am going to continue this awesome Life changing journey and will keep you all posted on my Health!!
