Dr. Harner explains how a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) tear is diagnosed.

Dr. Harner:
PCL tears are diagnosed like other ligament tears, with a history and a physical exam initially, and then, an MRI could be very helpful as well. The most tell-tailing sign on the physical exam is just pushing on the tibia and it goes backwards. And you can sense that as an examiner, and so that’s probably the easiest way, but the MRI is very specific so that’s, it can be very helpful in this setting.
