Colleen describes the ovarian cancer treatments she underwent.
Colleen:
I was diagnosed with 3c ovarian cancer, and I felt very fortunate to find Dr. Chambers down at the U of A in Tucson, and I underwent major surgery and took out the "debulked" that is referred to the tumor, and two weeks after I had my surgery, I started intraperitoneal chemotherapy. They put a port in your abdomen, and I also got a port in my chest here for the IV Taxol that I was given, and I was given the intraperitoneal chemotherapy which consisted of Taxol and Cisplatin, and then it was on an eight-day cycle. So I received that one week and then the following week, I would go back in and have IV Taxol done as well.
And currently I have opted to continue with chemotherapy, just IV Taxol one day a month, as a maintenance or consolidation dose is what they refer to it.
