Hot flashes and night sweats are two very common symptoms of menopause or perimenopause that occur due to hormonal imbalances during the menopausal transition.
In fact there are many symptoms that women have that you might not realize are part of the menopause transition:
• Fatigue or loss of energy
• Irregular periods
• Sleeplessness or insomnia
• Unexplained weight gain
• Forgetfulness or “fuzzy thinking”
• Mood changes or irritability
• Loss of sexual appetite or low libido
• Vaginal dryness
• Food cravings
• Digestive problems
• Anxiety or a feeling of overwhelm
During the perimenopausal and menopausal process women may experience more than half of the symptoms listed above. If you are saying “yes” to more than five of these symptoms you are having a hormonal imbalance and could be going into menopause.
Is there hope for relief from your symptoms?
Absolutely! Many of my patients experience relief using my proven protocols. The key to success is attaining the right combination of dietary and lifestyles changes, along with a prescription plan to balance your hormones.
Dietary and lifestyle changes
Eating a high-fiber, nutrient-dense whole-food diet can reduce menopausal symptoms and improve overall health. Managing stress, sleep and exercise can have an amazing effect on alleviating menopausal symptoms as well.
Using these behavioral strategies along with understanding any underlying hormonal imbalance can transform your life and your health by getting rid of your menopausal symptoms forever.
Balancing your hormones is the key
When we think of menopause and hormones the most obvious thought is to look at your female sex hormones. Those are an important part of the puzzle. But we also have to look at your testosterone, insulin, cortisol, DHEA and thyroid levels too because they have major impacts on your female hormone levels.
Looking at the total hormonal picture has brought the most patient success and patient satisfaction with reduction of symptoms!
Once I have evaluated and corrected all other hormonal imbalances then I work with the female hormones. This is a completely different approach than most of you would consider when you are treating yourself. It is an approach that works because it treats the underlying problems that are creating or worsening many of your symptoms.
I do believe that some symptoms are best treated with female hormones and for that I use bio-identical hormones, but that is an article for another day. For now I will say that sometimes estrogens and progesterones can be part of a natural treatment plan to normalize female hormones, thus eliminating symptoms.
