Dr. Adamson explains if all fertility treatments available are expensive.
Dr. David Adamson:
Well it’s certainly true that some fertility treatments like in vitro fertilization can cost $10,000.00 or may be more. What’s really important to understand is that only a small percentage of couples with fertility problems actually have to do those fancy procedures.
And in fact many, many couples who are having difficulty conceiving can be helped by the simplest things. Sometimes just the timing of intercourse or some very, very simple medications or some very simple sperm washing that can be done just in the doctor’s office.
So it’s really important for couples who are having trouble conceiving to see a physician who is a fertility specialist or certainly see their OB/GYN, their obstetrician gynecologist and talk to her or him about their situation because very often some simple and very inexpensive interventions can help the couples get pregnant and these days a lot of times the simpler treatments are in fact covered.
