My Spring Detox

It's that time of year again! It's time for my spring detox. I figure I deserve it; I've been cheating lately (on my body, not my husband), eating some forbidden food, and my body just needs a break. I was struggling, trying to find the "right time" to do my detox, but there really is never a "good time." I can always find an excuse - so let's just do it!

Spring is the time for detoxifying your liver. For this year's spring detox, I have taken on eating raw for 10 days, plus doing castor oil packs every other day, taking a botanical my naturopath made for me and the homeopathic remedy Nux Vomica. These are all to help give my liver a break from the hard work it's been doing all year and pull out toxins that are being stored.

I kept several recipes from my last raw food experience, including Asian coleslaw with ginger, beet salad and broccoli salad with a cashew dressing. I have also discovered a video from Raw Body Makeover Coaches that shows how to make raw "spaghetti" with a delicious tomato sauce. Zucchini is used to make the noodles! I'll be having that for dinner tonight! You can watch the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDrfVbsLkZE.

I have also stocked up on lots of nuts, seeds, fruits and vegetables to munch on throughout the day. One new thing I'm going to take on is sprouting grains and beans for more protein, because this was something I struggled with last time. I was able to load up on protein in my morning smoothie, but I didn't get enough to last me throughout the day.

In addition to detoxifying my liver, my goal is to get rid of the redness in my cheeks and to discover the right balance between raw and cooked foods for my body.

I'll keep you posted on how I do!

Good luck on your detox. I prefer to detox with aloe vera gel simply because aside from its body cleansing abilities, it also nourishes my body with around 200 bio-active nutrients

Good luck with your spring detox! I am in winter in Sydney down here and loving that I don't have to expose any flesh. It's too cold! I am trying to stick to a healthy diet so I don't pay the price too much when its 'spring detox' time for me in a few months time. :)
