AHIMA specialty certificates
The AHIMA offers a variety of specialist certificates, just like its kissing cousin, the AAPC. There are a ton of acronyms and designations, but don't worry—I explain them all in the sections that follow.
The administrator of Health Information Registration (RHIA)
You are an expert at handling medical records medical coding services, patient data, and computer systems if you are a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). Additionally, you are quite knowledgeable with the ethical and legal criteria and standards that apply to the healthcare sector.
You must have either finished an accredited Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM) program or have graduated from an HIIM program that has been authorized by a foreign association with which AHIMA has reciprocity agreements in order to be eligible for this certification.
Hold a degree from a program that has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management (CAHIIM). On the CAHIIM website, a list of these programs is available (www.cahiim.org). Associate, bachelor’s, and master's degree programs in health information management are accredited by CAHIIM.
Technician in health information registration (RHIT)
You are qualified as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) to assure the correctness and completion of medical records, including their correct entry into computer systems. You could also focus on coding for medical records.
Combining this certification with a bachelor's degree is common. You must have finished an HIIM program that has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education or have graduated from an HIIM program that has been granted approval by a foreign association with which AHIMA has reciprocity agreements in order to be eligible.

You must possess one of the following qualifications in order to qualify for this certification:

Healthcare Privacy and Security Certification (CHPS)
You may prove your proficiency in defending privacy and security programs in all forms of healthcare information management by earning the Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS) certification. Any of the following qualifications must be met in order to qualify for this certification:

Best among the others
There are other tournaments besides the AAPC and AHIMA. Even though they may be the most well-known, you may find that obtaining certification from another organization or adding certifications from other organizations to your AAPC or AHIMA credentials would help you achieve your career goals more effectively. The Board of Medical Specialty Coding and Compliance (BMSC) and the Professional Association of Healthcare Coding Specialists (PAHCS) are two respected certification bodies that I describe in the sections that follow (BMSC)
For coders, compliance officers, and clinicians, BMSC is a less well-known provider of specialty medical coding certificates and training. Both home healthcare professionals and those who work in doctor's offices can earn BMSC credentials.
The BMSC certification aids coders and other professionals in advancing their careers because the degrees of knowledge needed in coding and compliance increase as certification levels.
The following certifications are provided by the BMSC:
The Advanced Coding Specialist (ACS) and Specialty Coding Professional (SCP), both of which provide specialty certification in a variety of fields for dental billing company.
The CCP-P (Certified Compliance Professional-Physician), is a credential for compliance specialists working in doctor's offices.
Home Care Clinical Specialist-OASIS (HCS-O) for home healthcare providers Home Care Coding Specialist-Diagnosis (HCS-D) for home care coders with expertise in that field
All BMSC certifications are intended for individuals with prior expertise in the relevant fields. Exams and membership renewals must be completed every two years for recertification.
The Professional Association of Healthcare Coding Specialists (PAHCS) is a support group that serves as a network for members' communications. This association welcomes all coding specialists as members, but its primary purpose is to support coders who work in medical practices.
