Throughout the week, honour International Women's Day.

By September 22, 2022 - 12:22am

We're featuring more than a week's worth of posts that highlight female creators and leaders at an affordable Amazon marketing services company in honour of International Women's Day and Women's History Month. We are highlighting women in the field who are developing, producing, and, above all, inspiring, empowering, and motivating everyone—particularly women and girls—in the field of technology.

Companies that value diversity (whether it be gender-based or not) typically have higher retention and engagement rates, as well as greater creativity and innovation. For those who are transitioning into the industry from a "unconventional" career path, those who are returning to the workforce, or younger people looking to pursue a career in STEM, diverse leadership can offer excellent role models.

For more than a week leading up to International Women's Day, we will be highlighting articles that highlight female entrepreneurs and leaders. We are highlighting women in the field who are developing, producing, and, above all, inspiring, empowering, and motivating everyone—particularly women and girls—in the field of technology.

Though they are gradually becoming more prevalent, women are still underrepresented in tech fields. The graph that follows demonstrates that women hold 21% of IT and technical roles globally on average.

When you consider cloud computing roles like Developers/Engineers, Data Engineers, System Administrators, DevOps Engineers, and Architects, this percentage falls to 12%.

Regarding equal gender representation, the technology sector faces a challenge but also a chance. We can pave the way for success for everyone by highlighting the work that women are currently doing to gradually but steadily change what it looks like (both literally and figuratively) to work in technology.

She Develops Technical Capabilities re:Invent Roundup

An inclusive environment for learning and developing cloud skills is created by the AWS She Builds Tech Skills skill development programme, which is targeted at builders and cloud enthusiasts. Their goal is to create a community of elite leaders and to affect the representation of diversity in technical roles in the technology industry.

This week's first video is from She Builds Tech Skills, hosted by AWS Solutions Architects Mai Nishitani and May Kyaw. They talk with six female Solutions Architects from different parts of the world about their favourite re:Invent 2021 services and features in the video, and they offer suggestions on how to begin implementing these services in your architectures.
