RECENT LOSS OF BELOVED 89 YR GRANDMA TO STAGE IV BREAST CANCER
ON SEPTEMBER 14TH, 2012 I LOST MY BACKBONE MY BEAUTIFUL, LOVING, GRANDMOTHER EMMA HARPER. SHE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH STAGE IV BREAST CANCER IN MARCH THIS YEAR & HAD A MASS THE SIZE OF ABOUT TWO TENNIS BALLS COVERING THE RIGHT SIDE OF HER BREAST & CHEST...SHE BATTLED FOR AS LONG AS SHE COULD & HUNG IN THERE LONGER THAN ANYONE GAVE HER CREDIT FOR. LOSING HER HAS SENT A DETRIMENTAL BLOW TO OUR FAMILY THAT WE HAD NOT PREPARED FOR BUT DEEP DOWN IM GRATEFUL SHE HAS BEEN RELIEVED OF THE CONSTANT SUFFERING BREAST CANCER LEFT HER IN. I WILL SAY LOSING HER HAS MADE THE WOMEN IN MY FAMILY MORE AWARE OF THE IMPORTANCE OF GETTING MAMMOGRAMS & BEING REGULARLY CHECKED SINCE IT IS A HEREDITARY CANCER. IF ANYONE HAS A LOVED IN THE GREATER LIFE THREATNING STAGES OF CANCER I WOULD RECOMMEND THE HOSPICE PROGRAM AT KAISER PERMANENTE, THEY WERE ATTENTIVE, COMFORTING, AND PROFESSIONAL WITH MY GRANDMA'S NEEDS AS WELL AS OUR FAMILY WISHES
Sorry for your loss and thanks for sharing this important information.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing someone close to you sometimes can seem unbearable. Cancer also runs in. My family. I lost two Aunts to breast cancer one at age 54 the other at age 60. My grandfather was diagnosed with brain cancer that was caused by skin cancer that spread to his brain. Two years later I lost my grandmother to emphysema and lung cancer. I feel your heartache and know how difficult it is. Time doesn't heal all but it does ease the pain. Best wishes and stay strong.October 18, 2012 - 6:42am
