Celebrex

By January 14, 2012 - 5:56pm

Has anyone had or heard of any success with pain management using Celebrex?

My doctor wrote me a script, but there is no generic substitute. I know it will be pretty pricey. Is it worth it?

NO! it is not worth it plus it will take you over year to wean off it once you are started on it. Lyrica helps much better i think for fibro pain and i would see pain specialist. Motrin works better than antidepressants. I have yet to met one person in my life that antidepressants do help with pain. Many drs get kick backs from companies that make celebrex for prescribing it.
that kind of pushing should be made illegal as far as i am concerned...it is not what is best of patient but what doctor can get or make.
Hot bath with epsom salts works much better relieving the fibro pain too if you like cheap easy way...but last couple hours at most.
see pain specialist who explains where the pain comes from how it affects you and psychology factors of it. Than you can make informed choice on what you like to try.
Any name brand drug that you see ton of ads pushing it for pain when it was not made for pain reliever but for depression, i would ask the doctor what his kick back is for how many RX they prescribe. I am not kidding...the more we confront doctors on this issue and they realize patients are informed about this then hopefully their ethics will step in and stop the greedy side of themselves but do what is best for the patient.

HI,
I've been on Celebrex for about 8 years for my osteoarthritis. Was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about 10 years ago. Celebrex has not made any difference in controlling my pain from the Fibromyalgia. I would advise you to at least try it per your doctor's instructions, give it a try, and then discuss it with your doctor!
All the best,
Rose
