I am a new blogger for EmpowHer and am pleased to find this group. Living with chronic conditions is difficult whether they are genetic, a result of lifestyle or a result of medical errors. My conditions are due to genetics and medical errors. Most people have more than one chronic condition as they age and find it difficult to obtain quality care because their docs don't work together as a team. They receive individual advise from each and hope for the best. I have devoted almost a decade to writing my book, The Savvy Patient's Toolkit, speaking to groups and being a voice for better care. I'd like to know about your experiences with obtaining the care you need - the good, the bad and the unknown. I look fporward to hearing from you.

Hi Margo! (I love that name and am considering naming my daughter Margo - after I have one, that is, after I get well, that is!)

I'm living with chronic Lyme Disease, Babesia and Bartonella coinfections, as well as chronic Epstein Barr Virus, multiple food sensitivities, and mold toxicity. (Wow, that's a lot!)

I am ALL about patient empowerment and exceptional patient care. If you haven't heard of it already, I think Naturopathic Medical Care is the best way to go! These docs value educating their patients, as well as listening to them.

As far as living with chronic illness, oy, that's the true battle. I'll point you to a blog post I wrote about that. http://www.waterwithlyme.blogspot.com/2012/02/choices-choices-choices.html

I'm hoping to check this great new resource often, but, as a chronic sicky, am pretty sick, and so I'm not totally reliable anymore. My new catchphrase since being sick is: 'Well, back when I used to be reliable, this wouldn't have been a problem...' Ha!
