Sue describes what she does to ensure her blood glucose level is correct before she runs.
Sue:
We just finished the interview and I am going to be running and this is what I do. When I run I can’t put on my shoes and go out the door without knowing my number and that number means my blood glucose number. So I am doing the finger stick and getting a little bit of blood and I hope it’s a good number to run. I try to be on top of this. So it’s coming back five seconds. I am a 176 – that’s awesome. I am ready to run.
I start on a high number because it’s going to go down even though I put my pump on a lower basal rate. I slow down my insulin. I am happy to start with a 176.
